The Low Emissions Industry Program is seeking applications to support projects that reduce emissions in mining and manufacturing facilities while strengthening their transition toward a low-carbon future.
The program focuses on driving emissions reductions by co-funding projects at mining and manufacturing facilities, future-proofing industrial assets by supporting their transition to net zero, and maintaining economic resilience while protecting jobs within industrial sectors.
This program supports abatement projects undertaken at facilities that report emissions under the National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting Scheme. It is administered by the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water and is specifically targeted at mining and manufacturing operations seeking to reduce their environmental impact through practical and measurable initiatives.
Funding ranging from $500,000 to $10 million is available to eligible applicants, enabling significant investment in emissions reduction projects. These projects are expected to contribute to long-term sustainability while supporting the operational and economic stability of industrial facilities.
Eligible applicants must be Australian entities with a valid Australian Business Number and must operate within the manufacturing or mining sectors, excluding oil and gas extraction. Applicants are required to comply with legal, workplace, and safety obligations, maintain appropriate insurance, and demonstrate financial and operational capability to deliver the project. They must also not be subject to insolvency or sanctions and are required to disclose relevant legal matters and previous grant applications. Ownership or rights to necessary intellectual property and operational control over the facility are also required.
