The Ministry has launched the EV ChargeON Program to support the installation of public electric vehicle charging stations in Ontario communities to reduce range anxiety, improve coverage, and enable long-distance EV travel.
The focus of the program is to support the installation of public EV charging stations in Ontario communities to reduce range anxiety, improve coverage, and enable long-distance EV travel. EV ChargeON aims to increase the number of public EV charging stations throughout Ontario to build a more connected network, make public chargers more accessible and affordable, and encourage more people to switch to EVs.
The EV ChargeON Program provides 25%–75% of eligible expenses through post-construction rebates, helping applicants offset installation costs for EV charging infrastructure. The Ministry’s contribution through this program is capped at $1,000,000 per project, with applicants allowed to submit multiple applications where the total value of all projects exceeds $1,000,000.
Eligible applicants must be located and operating in Ontario. Organizations that can apply include businesses, not-for-profit corporations, municipal governments, Indigenous communities, organizations or businesses, and broader public sector organizations. The program encourages applications from small or medium-sized businesses and organizations.
This opportunity supports participation from both public and private sectors by expanding access to EV charging infrastructure needed to strengthen the charging network across the province. The program aims to remove barriers for EV users by improving affordability, accessibility, and long-distance travel reliability.
