The Vinnova is offering funding for projects that develop sustainable AI infrastructures to boost utilization, cybersecurity, and Sweden’s industrial digital sovereignty.
The focus areas of this funding include developing research and innovation projects driven by industrial needs, creating new AI infrastructure solutions through collaboration, increasing cybersecurity, ensuring data security and resilience, and promoting sustainable, cost-effective digital infrastructure across industrial sectors.
Eligible applicants must form a consortium with at least two participants, including at least one industrial partner in the form of a company. Other participants can include universities, university colleges, research institutes, public authorities, and industrial companies. The projects must be driven by industrial needs, covering the entire production chain from raw material extraction to finished products, as well as industry-related service and technology sectors such as energy, logistics, transport, telecommunications, ventilation, recycling, and defense.
Funding is available for projects requesting between 2 and 15 million kronor, covering up to 50 percent of the project’s eligible costs. Each participant must be a Swedish legal entity, including foreign organisations with a branch or establishment in Sweden, and project costs must relate to the activities of that branch or establishment.
The call is specifically targeting consortia that include stakeholders from Swedish industry, including companies that provide digital infrastructure, energy optimization, ventilation, cybersecurity, or computing and storage resources. Participation from universities, research institutes, and public organisations is encouraged to foster collaboration and innovation in AI infrastructure.
