The Energy Communities Development Grant Programme offers to support the development and expansion of energy communities through innovation, participation, and system integration.
The focus areas, include the development and expansion of energy communities and community generating plants, integration into the energy system, promotion of innovation through storage, digitalisation and automation, and increased flexibility of energy networks. It also emphasises enabling households and enterprises to actively participate in energy system transformation, ensuring inclusion of underrepresented social groups, strengthening transparent and affordable energy pricing, and improving monitoring and data collection to understand societal and systemic impacts.
The programme supports measures that enhance the expansion of energy communities and encourage the inclusion of new participants through awareness-raising activities related to social and technological innovation. It also promotes digitalisation, automation, improved forecasting capability, and the implementation of intelligent systems to increase flexibility and control within energy networks.
Eligible applicants may receive funding of up to €10,000 net, or up to €20,000 net for specific focus areas. The funding is provided as a non-repayable grant and is disbursed after project completion.
The scholarship supports services and activities that align with one or both of its defined focus areas, particularly those that strengthen community participation and technological advancement in energy systems.
