Deadline Date: March 13, 2026
NorthX is inviting women-led ventures to apply for the 2026 Call for Innovation: Women in Climate Tech, offering funding and support to accelerate climate solutions.
The initiative focuses on advancing greenhouse gas reduction and removal innovations, strengthening Canada’s climate innovation ecosystem, increasing representation among women-led ventures, supporting commercialization for high-impact climate solutions, fostering equitable opportunities for growth and scale, and contributing to climate innovation in BC and across Canada.
Through this program, NorthX will invest up to $3 million in projects addressing some of the most pressing global decarbonization challenges while building a stronger climate tech ecosystem across Canada. Women founders have historically been underrepresented in climate tech investment pipelines despite strong technical performance and market potential, and NorthX is addressing this gap through intentional funding and commercialization support. By providing both financial resources and tailored support, the program enables women-led ventures to grow, scale, and succeed in a competitive global market.
As Canada’s largest funder of early-stage climate hard-tech innovation, NorthX has committed $17 million, or 37% of its total funding to date, specifically to women founders. This targeted investment approach has already demonstrated a catalytic effect, with women-founded companies supported by NorthX securing $69 million in follow-on investment.
Applicants should note that projects must start within six months of signing a project funding agreement, with the earliest start date in July 2026, and may last no longer than two years. While projects may be conducted outside Canada, preference is given to initiatives demonstrating the greatest impact in British Columbia and contributing to Canada’s broader climate innovation landscape.
