Deadline Date: April 07, 2026
The Nordic Gender Equality Fund, administered by NIKK on behalf of the Nordic Council of Ministers, supports collaborative initiatives that advance gender equality across the Nordic region.
The fund aims to stimulate Nordic collaboration in the field of gender equality by addressing structural differences in living conditions between women and men, girls and boys, including disparities in power and influence, discrimination, education, occupation, position, income, pay and career, as well as exposure to violence and health, while also responding to the growing resistance, regression and push-back against gender equality both globally and within the Nordic region.
Many countries and regions around the world continue to experience significant inequalities between different groups of women and men. Structural imbalances remain visible in access to power, economic opportunities, and social protection, as well as in vulnerability to violence and health disparities. Recognising these challenges, the Nordic ministers remain committed to safeguarding the achievements made in gender equality and to pushing for further progress despite increasing polarization.
Through the Nordic Gender Equality Fund, an annual call for proposals is opened to finance collaborative projects that promote gender equality. Eligible projects must involve at least three different organisations from at least three different Nordic countries. These collaborations may contribute to generating new knowledge, facilitating exchange of experience, and building Nordic networks.
The fund is open to a wide range of applicants, including voluntary and not-for-profit organisations, stakeholder organisations, networks, other non-commercial actors, government agencies and public sector entities, municipalities and regions, universities and research institutes, and small and medium-sized enterprises. Eligible countries include Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, Sweden, the Faroe Islands, Greenland, and Åland.
Applicants may request funding amounts ranging from DKK 50,000 to DKK 500,000. NIKK is responsible for announcing calls for proposals, assessing applications, and following up on project results on behalf of the Nordic Council of Ministers.
