The Music Australia Export Development Fund offers matched funding of up to $15,000 to support international professional and artistic development activities for Australian music professionals.
The program focuses on supporting emerging, breakthrough and established acts and is designed to provide financial support to a diverse range of Australian artists at distinct phases of their international careers. The International Professional and Artistic Development fund (Category 2) is designed to support international professional development activity with matched funding of $3,000 to $15,000.
The Music Australia Export Development Fund forms a bold partnership between the Australian Government and the Australian music industry. It is open to Australian citizens or permanent residents who are current practising music professionals, including solo artists, instrumentalists, bands, ensembles, DJ/producers and electronic artists, producers, songwriters and composers. Applicants must complete the Go Global Toolkit quiz before starting their application and provide evidence of matched funding in their support material. The proposed export activity must start between 1 April 2026 and 30 June 2026 and be completed within 12 months.
To be eligible, the proposed activity must meet the definition of contemporary Australian music, which includes any genre or subgenre currently composed, written, or produced by Australians and distributed through commercial or non-commercial channels, with a focus on new, original and relevant works. Organisations and music businesses may apply on behalf of their artists, and First Nations applicants are encouraged to apply. Applicants with overdue grant reports, outstanding debts to Creative Australia, or duplicate applications for the same activity under other programs are ineligible.
Each application must demonstrate matched funding equal to or greater than the requested amount. The fund supports professional development activities that strengthen international connections and enhance artistic capability. The program ensures that artists at various stages of their careers have the opportunity to engage with global audiences and develop sustainable international careers.
