The Government of Maharashtra has launched the Maha Agri-AI Policy 2025–2029 through the Government of Maharashtra to integrate Artificial Intelligence, Generative AI, and frontier digital technologies across the agricultural value chain.
The focus includes AI, Generative AI (GenAI), and frontier digital technologies across the agricultural value chain, technology-driven, farmer-centric transformation, productivity, climate resilience, farmer incomes, Viksit Bharat@2047, UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), national leader in AI-driven agriculture, replicable models, sustainable economic growth, farming community, Discovery and Ideation, and Pilot and Validation.
This policy envisions a transformation that places farmers at the centre of technological advancement while building scalable models for sustainable development. Maharashtra aims to establish leadership in AI-driven agriculture, creating impactful solutions capable of addressing real-world agricultural challenges and elevating farmer incomes through technology integration.
Under Track 1: Discovery & Ideation, funding support of up to ₹40 Lakhs is available for a duration of approximately six months. This track is designed for innovators, startups, and researchers working on early-stage concepts, proof-of-concept models, or minimum viable products that are yet to undergo real-world testing. Support includes seed funding, mentorship, technical guidance, and access to datasets and resources from the MahaAgri-AI Center, with the expected outcome of a validated prototype ready for practical implementation.
Track 2: Pilot & Validation offers funding support of up to ₹2 Crore to scale mature solutions with proven potential. This track supports startups, FPOs, NGOs, research teams, and consortia working to deploy solutions in actual field settings, conduct impact assessments, and validate business models. Support includes funding for pilot deployment, access to farmer networks and testbeds, and guidance for commercial and policy integration.
