The Development Feasibility Fund encourages and supports initiatives that assist in the development of an idea that is likely to result in additional employment to the Kawerau workforce or has a significant benefit to the Kawerau Community.
The focus is on initiatives that will assist in the development of an idea that is likely to result in additional employment to the Kawerau workforce, or has a significant benefit to the Kawerau Community.
The Kawerau District Council offers funding to assist individuals or organizations in developing business plans or conducting development feasibility studies related to new business propositions. Applicants may receive up to $1,500 to support their efforts, with half the amount paid at the start of the study and the balance upon completion. Funding allocation is dependent on the fund reserves, and applications are accepted year-round.
Applicants are required to meet with the Economic and Community Development Officer on an as-needed basis to discuss application assessments. To apply, the proposed business must be located in Kawerau or demonstrate significant benefits to the area. Applications must be submitted in writing and include details about the business initiative, how the feasibility study or business plan will be prepared, the requested funding amount, specific uses of funds, and the expected economic benefits to the Kawerau community.
After completing the project, applicants must submit a written report to the Council, including the project outcome, how the grant was spent, and evidence of expenditure such as receipts or invoices. This ensures accountability and transparency for the use of funds.
