Deadline: October 09, 2025
The eleventh call for proposals from the European partnership The Innovative Health Initiative (IHI) focuses on international research cooperation to generate breakthrough health solutions across multiple critical areas.
The five themes of the call are Knowledge of how infections promote and induce non-communicable diseases, Towards precision medicine: platform for transdiagnostic stratification of brain dysfunction, AI-powered signal detection in pharmacovigilance, Utnyttja EU’s expertise to accelerate cell therapy for type 1 diabetes, and Establishment of ambulatory surgical centers in orthopedics and cardiology in Europe.
This two-stage call emphasizes the importance of bringing together actors across sectors, including industry, universities, research institutes, the public sector, civil society, and small and medium-sized enterprises both within and outside Europe. Proposals should align with one of the five themes and showcase strong collaboration across disciplines to develop innovative, long-term health solutions. The scale of the funding is substantial, estimated between 170 and 430 million SEK in total, depending on the selected topic and project design by the consortia.
Applications must be submitted through the EU application portal in collaboration with international partners. Selected short proposals will move forward to the second phase, where they will be co-developed into full proposals alongside the pre-identified industry consortium in spring 2026. This collaborative process ensures that resulting projects pool expertise across the scientific spectrum, ranging from pharmaceuticals and biotechnology to medical technology, healthcare, and Big Data.
The call closes on 9 October 2025 at 2 PM. Decisions are expected on 15 December 2025. With the rising global demand for effective, innovative, and sustainable healthcare solutions, this initiative marks an important opportunity to transform the future of health in Europe and beyond.
