The Indigenous Visual Arts Industry Support Grant Programme offers funding to organisations for activities that contribute to the development and sustainability of the Indigenous visual arts sector.
The focus areas of this programme are a professional, viable and ethical Indigenous visual arts industry that features strong participation by, and provides economic opportunities for, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, and the continued production, exhibition, critique, purchase and collection of Indigenous visual art.
This programme provides financial support to strengthen Indigenous visual arts organisations and expand opportunities for artists across communities. Funding ranges from AUD 45,000 to AUD 300,000, supporting activities commencing in 2025–26 and 2026–27. The aim is to ensure a thriving and ethical sector that preserves artistic traditions while enabling economic participation.
The grant supports organisations that contribute to professional practice, cultural preservation and industry growth. Through this funding, organisations can plan and deliver activities that enhance artistic development, build capacity, and encourage wider recognition and engagement with Indigenous visual art.
Eligibility for the programme includes organisations that are Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Corporations registered under the Corporations (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander) Act 2006, entities established through specific Commonwealth, State or Territory legislation, companies incorporated in Australia, companies limited by guarantee, incorporated associations, publicly funded research organisations and state, territory or local government bodies. Applicants must also have an Australian Business Number, be registered for GST if required, have an Australian financial institution account and have no overdue acquittals or serious breaches relating to Australian Government funding.
