The Health and Medical Life Sciences Market Access Grant Scheme supports Western Australian small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the health and medical life sciences sector by assisting them with the costs of attending national and international conferences and events to enhance business growth, attract investment, and foster potential partnerships.
The focus areas of the program are to assist Western Australian SMEs that operate in the Health and Medical Life Sciences sector with the costs of attending national and international conferences and events to help support their business growth, access to investment, and potential partnerships. The level of funding support is 80% of eligible costs (excluding GST) and up to a maximum of $5,000 per company. $100,000 has been allocated to this third round, which is valid for travel in 2025.
This grant scheme provides targeted financial assistance for travel-related business activities, helping companies gain exposure to new markets and global opportunities. It supports businesses in showcasing their products, building collaborations, and connecting with investors and industry leaders at major events.
To be eligible for assistance under the program, applicants must meet specific requirements including living in Western Australia and operating within the Health and Medical Life Sciences sector while developing or expanding related technologies in the region. Applicants must be registered businesses headquartered in Western Australia and either have been operating for at least 24 months or be a spin-out from a university or medical research institute. They must also target markets for partnering, investment, export, or trade activities and employ fewer than 200 people.
Eligible organisations must hold a valid Certificate of Incorporation, Australian Business Number (ABN), or Australian Company Number (ACN), be legally solvent, and have the financial capacity to contribute at least 20% of the total funding. Only one application per company is permitted, and funds must be used for eligible travel costs to industry conferences or business events during 2025. Additionally, applicants must demonstrate alignment with the Health and Medical Life Sciences Industry Strategy and show clear outcomes for their business and for Western Australia.
