The Touring and Travel Fund is a quick response funding program that supports domestic and international travel activities for NSW contemporary music artists, acts, and music industry professionals.
The program focuses on supporting domestic tours, domestic professional development opportunities, significant international professional development opportunities, attendance at music market events, workshops, camps, mentorships, residencies, business opportunities, travel and accommodation costs, strengthening the live music ecosystem, increasing domestic performance opportunities, supporting professional development, and growing music audiences for NSW artists.
Funding of up to $5,000 per person is available to assist eligible applicants with travel and accommodation expenses related to touring and professional development activities. The program supports artists and acts undertaking domestic tours as well as participating in significant domestic and international music market events, workshops, camps, mentorships, and residencies that contribute to their professional growth.
For domestic tours and performances at music market events, funding can support up to six people within a touring party. This may include the artists as well as a maximum of two individuals providing essential support services. Eligible support roles include one operational crew member, such as a tour manager or key technical production crew member, and one support person assisting with disability, family, or cultural needs.
The program also supports music industry professionals working in contemporary music who wish to attend significant domestic or international music market events and pursue identified business development opportunities. Through these activities, participants can strengthen industry networks, expand professional skills, and enhance career development within the contemporary music sector.
Eligible applicants include artists, acts, music industry professionals, and music businesses applying on behalf of an artist or act. Funding recipients must be at least 18 years of age, have lived in New South Wales for a minimum of 12 months, and be actively performing or working in contemporary music. In addition, at least 50 percent of the touring party must currently reside in New South Wales for a minimum of 12 months.
Applicants must have an active Australian Business Number (ABN) and a bank account that matches the ABN name, or work with a funds administrator. For this program, contemporary music refers to artists and acts performing new and original music. Experimental music and sound art, contemporary classical music, opera, choral and ensemble performance, music theatre, and work involving community music groups are not supported under this funding opportunity.
