Deadline Date: September 03, 2026
The European Commission has launched to support projects that analyze, validate, and exploit space data to advance European space science and exploration.
The focus areas include fostering European space science breakthroughs through data analysis from European missions and instruments, including low-cost and small satellites, contributing to a higher number of scientific publications and high-level data products, developing advanced tools and methods for data processing, increasing collaboration among scientific teams within and outside Europe, and enhancing European scientific excellence and leading-edge research.
Funding for projects ranges from €1,500,000 to €2,500,000, with a total budget of €3,920,000. The scope of the topic covers the analysis and exploitation of data acquired from scientific and exploration instruments and missions during pre-operative, operative, post-operative, or data exploitation phases, with particular emphasis on astronomy, astrophysics, cosmology, heliophysics, and deep space and solar system exploration. Projects may involve data from ESA, national space agencies, research organisations, universities, and CubeSat or small satellite missions. Advanced data processing techniques, artificial intelligence methods, novel statistical approaches, multidimensional data fusion, optimization using advanced computing hardware, and innovative data representation and visualization are encouraged.
Projects should aim to add scientific value by producing higher-level data products, tools, and methods, leading to scientific publications and contributions to ESA Space Science Archives where applicable. Combining data with international mission datasets and ground-based infrastructures is encouraged to increase scientific return and enable new research activities. International cooperation, especially with countries active in space science and exploration, is supported. Integration of gender dimensions in research content should be considered if relevant to the research objectives.
Eligible participants include any legal entity worldwide, including those from non-associated third countries or international organisations, provided they meet the conditions set by the Horizon Europe Regulation and the specific call requirements.
