Deadline Date: May 07, 2026
The Swedish Energy Agency is seeking grant applications to strengthen the electricity system’s capacity to meet growing demand and maintain supply security before the electricity grid has been sufficiently expanded.
The programme focuses on renewable energy and electricity system development, including conversion of heating plants into bio-combined heating plants, investments in new bio-combined heat and power plants or upgrades to existing ones, investments in new gas turbines powered by renewable fuels or upgrades to existing facilities, investments in electricity or heat storage directly connected to renewable electricity production, and upgraded production capacity in small-scale hydroelectric power plants.
Eligible projects must contribute either to enabling the connection of new electricity use to the grid or to maintaining security of supply in the area where the project is implemented. Support is available for businesses, municipalities, and regions.
The programme has announced a total funding pool of SEK 4.210 billion to accelerate renewable energy initiatives and improve grid reliability, ensuring that electricity demand can be met sustainably and efficiently in the near term.
This funding opportunity encourages the adoption of renewable energy solutions and infrastructure enhancements that address both current and future electricity needs while promoting environmental sustainability.
