Deadline Date: April 13, 2026
The Interreg Meuse-Rhine Call 5 offers significant European Union funding to support innovative cross-border projects that aim to address key social, economic, and environmental challenges in the Meuse-Rhine region.
The fifth call focuses on several important themes and priorities including industrial transition, green (sustainable) transformation, social challenges such as labor market and education, a healthier society, and high-quality tourism in the region, while the programme also addresses five broader societal challenges: industrial transition, green transformation, healthier citizens, tourism in a high-quality region, and living and working without borders.
With this funding round, projects can receive up to 60% of their total costs covered by EU funds, representing an increase compared to previous calls. The remaining 40% must be provided by project partners through co-financing or their own contributions.
All programme priorities are open in this call, with available EU funding distributed across several areas. Priority 1 has €8,991,994 available, Priority 2 has €12,031,553 available, and Priority 3 has €10,216,122 available, while Priority 4 currently has no remaining budget. The total remaining funding available across these priorities amounts to €31,239,670.
Priority 1 focuses on creating a smarter Meuse-Rhine region and remains open to new project ideas, although applicants should expect strong competition. Projects that have already submitted their initial concept and received a positive evaluation are encouraged to prepare their full applications promptly and ensure that their proposals are highly convincing.
Priority 2 aims to support initiatives that contribute to a greener Meuse-Rhine region. This area has already attracted a large number of applications, and there is a strong possibility that the remaining funding may be fully allocated once projects already in the pipeline are evaluated. Due to the high demand and the two-stage application process, completely new project ideas may face limited opportunities.
Priority 3 addresses the development of a more social Meuse-Rhine region. Funding opportunities are still available in this priority area, and well-developed projects have a good chance of receiving support. Both new applications at the first stage and ongoing applications progressing to the second stage can still compete for funding.
The programme distributes the available budget on a first-come, first-served basis. Applicants are therefore encouraged to submit their proposals as early as possible to increase their chances of securing funding.
Projects supported under this call are expected to develop, test, and implement innovative solutions that address the real needs of the region. Cross-border collaboration between partners from the Netherlands, Belgium, and Germany is essential, and projects must demonstrate a clear regional impact.
