Deadline Date: June 16, 2026
The European Commission (EC) invites research organizations and legal entities to apply for funding aimed at consolidating and strengthening ESFRI Landmarks and European Research Infrastructure Consortia (ERICs) to ensure their long-term sustainability and evolution.
This initiative focuses on enlargement of the membership or broadening of the base of participating countries, notably including widening countries and candidate countries; addressing critical aspects raised following an assessment or monitoring exercise, such as those conducted within ESFRI activities; reinforcing international cooperation; revision of business or funding plans; development of managerial and technical skills for research infrastructure staff; structuring and strengthening of national or thematic nodes; extension of remote and/or virtual access; management of research data according to the FAIR principles; reorientation or evolution of the research infrastructure scope; and development, update, and/or implementation of impact assessment of the research infrastructure.
The action supports ESFRI Landmarks and European Research Infrastructure Consortia (ERICs) by providing individual assistance to strengthen their operations, optimize their use, and ensure long-term sustainability. Funding for this initiative totals €9,900,000, with individual grants ranging between €3,000,000 and €4,500,000.
Eligible participants include any legal entity, regardless of its country of establishment, including entities from non-associated third countries or international organizations, provided they meet the Horizon Europe regulations and the specific call conditions. Beneficiaries and affiliated entities must register in the Participant Register to obtain a participant identification code (PIC) and be validated by the Central Validation Service before signing the grant agreement. Validation requires submission of documents proving legal status and origin, although a validated PIC is not required for application submission.
This funding opportunity is designed to help European research infrastructures adapt, evolve, and maintain excellence in their operations while fostering broader participation, cooperation, and impact across Europe and beyond.
