Ireme Invest invites entrepreneurs and businesses to apply for funding under its Project Preparation Facility at the Rwanda Green Fund.
This is a unique opportunity for established businesses operating in the green sector, those transitioning to incorporate eco-friendly practices into their operations, and innovators offering green and climate solutions to access funding in the form of grants, recoverable grants and equity.
Investment Areas
Ireme Invest welcomes applications from businesses working in the following investment areas:
- Clean Energy, including the energy generation, lower pollution energy, energy distribution, energy storage and energy use sub-sectors.
- Smart Mobility, including the electric taxis, electric buses, electric motorcycles, EV charging infrastructure and water-based transport (infrastructure and equipment) sub-sectors.
- Sustainable Cities, including the green buildings (mitigation), green buildings (adaptation and urban nature-based solutions) and green building skills sub-sectors.
- Climate Smart Agriculture, including the forest management, seeds, crop production and food systems, sustainable and regenerative agriculture, community-supported agriculture, regenerative and restorative management practices, livestock and fish management, nature-based solutions and agri-business (infrastructure, equipment, processes, sustainable textiles, straw, eco-tourism) sub-sectors.
- Waste and Circular Economy, including the waste management, Industrial Processes and Product Use (IPPU), construction, cement production, water and water systems sub-sectors.
Financial Instruments
Ireme Invest is offering a range of tailored financial instruments and services to fast-track private sector green investment including:
- Grants: Up to 125 million RWF
- Recoverable Grants: Up to 300 million RWF
- Equity Investments: Up to 300 million RWF
Who Can Apply?
- This opportunity is open to all entrepreneurs and businesses operating in or transitioning to the green solutions in Rwanda.
- Your business or proposed project should address environmental or climate change challenges.
- Clearly specify the intended use of funds.
- Applicants are encouraged to apply for the most suitable financial instrument. Each business is eligible to apply for only one financial instrument.
Criteria
The business must fulfil the following criteria:
- Registered in Rwanda with a valid certificate from the Rwanda Development Board
- Present evidence of environmental and financial viability
- Uphold exemplary corporate governance
- Operate within or transitioning to the green and sustainable solutions sector
- Demonstrate scalability and significant economic impact.
