The is Innovate UK is inviting grant applications to support industrial research and innovation projects that develop reusable components for next-generation smart electronic platforms, enhancing automation and autonomy.
The competition focuses on maturing and accelerating the availability of semiconductor and novel technology components required for Smart Electronic Platforms. Key objectives include delivering integrated sensors, secure processors, AI hardware accelerators, actuator drivers, and support components such as integrated power management, to build a UK-anchored catalogue of components ready for industrial and tactical applications.
The programme aims to drive economic, industrial, and tactical benefits through automation and autonomous systems by ensuring that high-quality, reusable components are available for integration into smart electronic platforms. Projects must focus on industrial research and innovation required to deliver component subsystems and support the full ‘Sense-Decide-Act’ pipeline.
Eligible projects should request grant funding between £500,000 and £2 million. Applications must be led by organisations carrying out the work in the UK and intending to exploit project results from within the country. Projects must start on the first day of a month, after approval of the Grant Offer Letter by Innovate UK, with potential delays affecting start dates if project setup is incomplete.
