The Green Fund provides financial support for small- and medium-sized enterprises to advance their technology readiness level through projects that help reduce the environmental footprint of the aerospace sector.
The focus areas of this opportunity are the objective of the Green Fund is to provide financial support for small- and medium-sized enterprises to help advance their technology readiness level through projects that can ultimately help reduce the environmental footprint of the aerospace sector, the intent is to help projects that will support the industry and the Government of Canada’s priorities for reducing the environmental impact of aviation.
Each approved and contracted project will need to have a project timeline between 12-22 months in length and will receive 50% project cost support up to $75,000 CDN from DAIR. The Green Fund supports technology development across several categories, including energy and propulsion, aircraft configuration and systems, operations and advanced materials. Projects may involve areas such as sustainable aviation fuels, electrification, hydrogen technologies, advanced air mobility, drones, manufacturing processes, in-flight operations or lightweight materials and composites. Applicants must be established companies with a minimum of two full-time employees and fewer than 500 employees, demonstrating growth potential through new or improved technology-driven products, processes or services.
Eligible SMEs must be able to demonstrate sufficient funding to complete the project and must operate a place of business in Southern Ontario. Compliance with all applicable federal, provincial, territorial and municipal laws is required, and projects cannot take place on federal lands. Funding may be applied over a project duration of up to 24 months, with a minimum threshold aligned with the programme requirements.
Approved applicants must formally contract with DAIR and become members of the DAIR Innovation Network. They must complete their activities within the agreed timeline and acknowledge government support in all public communications related to the funded project, following the required approval procedures.
