Deadline Date: March 31, 2026
The FIERCE Project, funded under Horizon Europe, has launched its 1st Open Call for Financing 2026 to support SMEs in developing space-enabled green solutions that contribute to more sustainable and circular business practices.
The program places a particular focus on supporting solutions in areas such as improvement of circularity, resource efficiency, and waste management; safe, resource-efficient, and environmentally friendly management of primary, secondary, and critical raw materials; and improved environmental monitoring.
Through this Financial Support Program, SMEs can receive funding of up to €50,000 to contract External Service Providers that will assist them in developing solutions based on downstream space technologies. These technologies include Earth Observation, remote sensing, and satellite navigation, which can be leveraged to enhance environmental performance and drive sustainable innovation.
The Open Call targets companies interested in using downstream space data either to improve their own internal operations or to create products and services that benefit their users. For companies themselves, this may involve optimizing internal processes to reduce resource consumption, waste generation, and pollution. For their users, it may include developing solutions that support better resource management, enhanced environmental monitoring, or other applications that positively impact environmental sustainability.
Eligible applicants must be SMEs established in EU Member States or Horizon Europe Associated Countries. They must demonstrate their potential to leverage downstream space data to reduce environmental footprints. Applicants are required to comply with the EU definition of an SME, which includes having fewer than 250 employees and either an annual turnover not exceeding €50 million or an annual balance sheet total not exceeding €43 million.
By supporting the adoption and development of commercially available space-based technologies, the FIERCE Project aims to foster greener innovation practices, strengthen sustainable partnerships, and accelerate the transition toward circular and environmentally responsible business models across Europe.
