The Feasibility Study grant scheme is designed to help enterprises research their proposed business or new business ideas to assess viability and sustainability.
The focus of this grant scheme is on Health and Well-being, Sustainable Use of Resources for Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation, Smart Manufacturing, Marine and Maritime Technology, Aviation and Aerospace, and Future Digital Technologies. It falls under Policy Objective 1 of the SFC2021 Programme 2021-2027, promoting innovative and smart economic transformation and regional ICT connectivity.
This scheme offers non-repayable grants to micro, small, medium-sized, and small mid-cap enterprises based in Malta or Gozo that want to develop innovative ideas. The maximum grant is €100,000 per undertaking, and the aid intensity varies by enterprise size. Eligible projects must align with Malta’s Smart Specialisation Strategy 2021-2027 and deliver feasibility studies that include market research, cost and revenue estimation, financial and economic assessment, and risk profiling.
Applications proceed in two stages, starting with submission of a Concept Note followed by a full application for the Feasibility Study. The assessment includes eligibility checks, financial viability, and compliance with EU regulations concerning state aid, sustainability, and equal opportunity. Approved projects must be implemented within six months and fully comply with reporting, procurement, and audit requirements set by the Intermediate Body managing the funds.
The scheme emphasizes sustainable development and adherence to the ‘do no significant harm’ principle, ensuring projects positively impact society, economy, environment, and job creation while mitigating risks and avoiding environmental damage.
