Farmtopia Programme: Empowering Small and Medium Farms with Digital Technologies

These new farms will co-create and test smart solutions for small and medium farms, thereby contributing to raising awareness about the benefits of incorporating ASAs in farming operations and making these digital technologies more easily accessible to small and medium farms.

The Open Call (OC) will select 9 new SIPs of the same structure as the 9 internal Farmtopia SIPs. The OC will focus on countries and crops, not already present in Farmtopia, with the expectation that they will benefit from the most recent developments and innovations in the area.

• 100,000 EUR per applying consortium (no single entity can receive more than 60,000 EUR)
• 900,000 EUR in total
• 9 winners

Eligibility Criteria

• Small consortia of two entities, formed by an ADS provider (SME) and a small/medium farm
• Registered entities with valid VAT or relevant registry numbers within eligible Horizon Europe countries. This includes Member States of the European Union, their outermost regions, and Overseas Countries and Territories linked to an EU Member as well as nationals of Horizon Europe associated countries.
• Farmtopia consortium members are not eligible to apply for the Open Call.
• Only one proposal per applying consortium.
• English is the official language for Farmtopia Open Call. Applications submitted in any other language will be discarded as ineligible.

Requirements

• The proposal must be centered around the development of an ADSs
• Proposals must present the challenges their solution addresses on a farm-level
• At least one Farmtopia service (i.e. Reusable Component) must be used in the development of the ADS and integration of more Farmtopia services will be considered an advantage
• The ADSs need to have a high starting TRL (at least TRL6)

Evaluation Criteria

• After the Farmtopia Open Call has been concluded, an eligibility check process will be carried out by the Farmtopia Open Call team to discard the non-eligible proposals. Following the eligibility check, an evaluation will be performed by selected external evaluators. Each proposal will be reviewed by two different evaluators, with specific technical and/or business expertise related to the topics of the call.
