Deadline Date: March 03, 2026
The European Commission has announced a call for proposals for EU action grants under the Digital Europe Programme (DIGITAL) to accelerate the best use of technologies and strengthen the European Digital Media Observatory (EDMO).
The focus areas include strengthening the monitoring and analysis of the online information environment, detecting and exposing disinformation campaigns with the aim of contributing to situational awareness across the EU, supporting election integrity by monitoring and analysing election-related disinformation campaigns and manipulation, and focusing on building societal resilience and expanding outreach and communication efforts to engage a broad audience and design effective responses relevant for national audiences.
The total estimated available budget for this call is EUR 6,000,000. The call aims to finance the work of independent national or regional hubs to ensure continued coverage of geographical areas under the EDMO network, especially those whose current funding will end in 2026. Each hub may cover one or more eligible EU countries with similar online information ecosystems, though each country will be covered by only one hub unless justified by specific circumstances.
The EDMO hubs are expected to reinforce the network by monitoring and analysing the online information ecosystem for situational awareness, developing practical actions to strengthen societal resilience and media literacy, fostering the growth of strong national and regional multidisciplinary communities, and reaching out to a broad audience through various communication channels.
Eligible applicants include legal entities, either public or private, established in EU Member States (including overseas countries and territories) or in non-EU countries associated with the Digital Europe Programme, including listed EEA countries. Applicants and affiliated entities must be registered and validated in the Participant Register before submitting their proposal.
