The Unreal Engine is requesting grant applications for Epic MegaGrants to support to creative, innovative, and noteworthy projects built with Unreal Engine or projects that enhance the open-source 3D graphics ecosystem.
The program focuses on game development using Unreal Engine, Unreal Editor for Fortnite Creative Islands, film, TV, and live events leveraging real-time technology, non-games verticals including architecture, automotive, manufacturing, simulation, product design, advertising, VR/AR, education and university programs, and tools or open-source development that advance the real-time 3D space or improve the 3D community.
Epic MegaGrants offers financial grants ranging from $5,000 to $75,000, with some exceptional projects receiving up to $150,000. Applicants retain full ownership of their intellectual property and are free to publish their work as they wish. The program seeks to support smaller teams, solo developers, and innovators with exciting and challenging projects that may lack sufficient funding. Eligible projects include Unreal Engine games past the idea or design phase with working prototypes, imaginative Fortnite Creative islands, real-time film or entertainment projects, and innovative applications in non-gaming industries. Educational initiatives from degree-granting schools and open-source tool development projects enhancing Unreal Engine are also eligible.
Epic MegaGrants is intended to empower developers and creators to bring bold, technically challenging, and imaginative ideas to life while advancing the real-time 3D ecosystem for the broader community.
