The Screen Australia in partnership with Los Angeles-based Dynamic Television, supports the development of scripted television projects with the aim of positioning them for greater international success as they prepare to go into production.
The focus areas of the opportunity are story and development plan, talent and team, audience and marketplace, ensuring Australian screen content delivers cultural and economic benefits by speaking to, and being for, all Australians, and building equity, diversity, inclusion and accessibility into programs and engagement with the community.
Up to one project may be selected from this round. Applicants can apply with a total development budget of up to $100,000, to which Screen Australia will contribute 50% and Dynamic Television the remaining 50%. Dynamic Television will have first look to attach as international distributor under terms to be negotiated. The program aims to enhance the Australian screen industry by encouraging a range of ideas and a diverse workforce, making projects more relevant to Australian audiences and more competitive internationally.
The program is open to incorporated companies carrying on business in Australia with central management and control in Australia. Applicants must have an Australian Business Number, be registered for GST if required by law, control the rights necessary to carry out the project with a clear chain of title, and demonstrate relevant experience through comparable work that shows the capability to produce the project. Sole trader ABNs are not eligible.
This opportunity allows companies to access co-funding and international partnership support to develop high-quality scripted television projects with global potential. The initiative provides a pathway for Australian content to reach international markets while maintaining cultural relevance and supporting industry diversity.
