EIT Manufacturing announces 2nd Call for Proposals

Focus on Innovation

• Topic 1: Optimising production processes and increasing resources efficiency through digital solutions
  • The following two types of proposals are expected:
    • The development and commercialisation of real-time digital twins and solutions based on artificial intelligence that allow the monitoring of manufacturing processes and help configure changes in production lines in real-time.
    • The development and commercialisation of solutions with the objective of improving energy and resource efficiency.
• Topic 2: Socially sustainable and human-centric manufacturing
  • The proposals should support workers by improving productivity, safety, decision-making, and control through human-machine collaboration and advanced technologies, robotics, artificial intelligence, augmented reality, virtual reality and more.
• Topic 3: Environmentally sustainable manufacturing through circular business models and new technologies
  • The following two types of proposals are expected:
    • The development and commercialisation of new and scalable technologies to improve the efficiency of production processes by reducing resources consumption and increasing the use of recycled materials, both for new production and remanufacturing, including also advanced materials and clean production technologies.
    • The development and commercialisation of new and scalable circular business models, taking into consideration the entire life cycle of the products.

Focus on Regional Innovation Scheme

• Topic 1: Fair, green and digital ‘twin’ transition for SMEs in EIT RIS countries (RIS Business Creation)
  • The activity should demonstrate how EIT Manufacturing can, in practice, help local players to cover needs such as green and digital transformation piloting activities for SMEs.
• Topic 2: Adopting Deep Tech innovation in RIS countries (RIS INNOVATION – AI & Deep Tech)
  • This call is for projects aiming to support innovative solutions with special focus – although not restricted – on applying Deep tech innovation in manufacturing in RIS countries.

Focus on Education

Proposals under the following topics are expected to develop upskilling programmes based on one of the following segments: “Skill-driven learning”, “education for transforming organisations” and “engage society and pupils”.

• Topic 1: Sustainability – Skills for identifying and applying enabling technologies for sustainable manufacturing
• Topic 2: Digitalisation – identification and development of skills to define and execute a digital transformation roadmap
• Topic 3: Environmentally sustainable manufacturing through circular business future trends – upskilling and reskilling in re-manufacturing and critical resources for circular economy and new technologies.

Funding Information

The total maximum EIT funding per year for all entities participating in the 2024 Calls is 1,500,000 EUR.

Eligible Entities

• Entities eligible to participate
  • Any legal entity, regardless of its place of establishment, including legal entities from nonassociated third countries or international organisations is eligible to participate (whether it is eligible for funding or not), provided that the conditions laid down in the Horizon
  • Europe Regulation have been met, along with any other conditions laid down in the specific call topic.
  • A ‘legal entity’ means any legal person created and recognised as such under national law, EU law, or international law, which has legal personality, and which may, acting in its name, exercise rights and be subject to obligations.
• Entities eligible for funding
  • To be eligible for funding, applicants must be established in one of the following countries at the time of proposal submission:
    • the Member States of the European Union, including their outermost regions: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czechia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden.
    • the Overseas Countries and Territories (OCTs) linked to the Member States.
    • the countries associated with Horizon Europe and the low- and middle-income countries.
