Deadline Date: October 01, 2026
The Shevchenko Foundation is inviting applications under its Education Pillar – Educational Projects Sector to support initiatives that advance Ukrainian Canadian studies, Ukrainian language education, and cultural heritage development in Canada.
The program focuses on preserving, promoting, and developing Ukrainian Canadian cultural heritage through education initiatives that strengthen the Ukrainian community in Canada. Priority areas include resource and curriculum development for K–12 schools, universities, and continuing education programs; establishment of medium and long-term digital content development through remote platforms and emerging technologies; support for Ukrainian language and Ukrainian Canadian subjects at recognized Canadian higher education institutions; and partnerships with established academic publishers in Canada for scholarly publications related to Ukrainian and Ukrainian Canadian topics. The Foundation also prioritizes projects that demonstrate innovation, inclusiveness, sustainability, financial feasibility, strong public engagement, and effective marketing and dissemination plans.
The Shevchenko Foundation supports organizations that contribute to enriching the Canadian experience through Ukrainian Canadian culture while strengthening community connections across local, regional, and national levels. Eligible applicants include Canadian not-for-profit organizations, artist collectives, registered private businesses operating primarily in Canada, and Canadian chartered educational institutions. Professional, semi-professional, and amateur groups governed by boards or responsible governing bodies are also eligible to apply.
Funding is available for educational initiatives that support the advancement of Ukrainian Canadian studies and language education. Projects may include curriculum and educational resource development, digital educational infrastructure, scholarly publishing partnerships, and educational programming delivered through recognized institutions. Applications that demonstrate realistic budgets, strong organizational capacity, and support from additional funding or in-kind partners will receive priority consideration.
The Foundation may fund up to 50 percent of total project or program costs, depending on available budget resources. Grants are intended to cover project-related expenses, although they cannot be used for general living allowances for participants. Applications must be submitted before the proposed project start date, and organizations must complete final reporting requirements for previous grants before applying for new funding.
