The Measures and Support Division, under the Managing Authority for European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) grants, invites micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises in Malta to apply for the Digitalise Your SME grant, a non-repayable funding opportunity designed to help businesses digitalise their operations, enhance efficiency, and strengthen competitiveness in the global marketplace.
The focus areas for this initiative include promoting entrepreneurship, facilitating the economic exploitation of new ideas, fostering the creation of new firms including through business incubators, promoting innovative and smart economic transformation, enhancing regional ICT connectivity, and reaping the benefits of digitalisation for citizens, companies, research organisations, and public authorities.
The Measures and Support Division within the Ministry responsible for the management of Union Funds has been designated by the Managing Authority as an Intermediate Body to administer European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) Grant Schemes through the implementation of Support Measures under the 2021–2027 programming period. The Digitalise Your SME initiative aims to assist enterprises by providing grants to part-finance investments that improve digital capabilities and digitalised processes.
Digital transformation enables businesses to optimise product and process design and engineering, end-to-end procurement, supply chain and distribution, and after-sales services. By adopting these measures, companies can enhance resilience, operational efficiency, productivity, and customer experience, thereby positioning themselves more competitively on the global stage.
The scheme has a total budget of €5,000,000, with grants ranging from €10,000 to €128,400, including an additional 7% flat rate to cover indirect costs related to the investment. The program will remain open until 31 December 2026, subject to fund availability, and supports both established SMEs and qualifying start-ups that are micro or small enterprises engaged in eligible economic activities.
Eligibility requires that undertakings possess legal personality under applicable law or, if not, be registered under the Second Schedule of the Civil Code (CAP 16 of the Laws of Malta). The initiative aligns with Policy Objective 1 of the SFC2021 Programme 2021–2027, aiming to create a smarter, well-connected, and resilient economy, while promoting competitive and digital objectives.
