Deadline Date: December 12, 2025
The Malta Digital Innovation Authority (MDIA), in collaboration with the SFC2021 Programme, is offering the “Digitalise Your SME” Grant Scheme to help European enterprises strengthen their competitiveness through technology.
Enterprises in Europe today face competition not just from local rivals but from businesses around the globe. To remain competitive, it is essential for companies to embrace the latest technologies, deliver high-quality products, and provide superior services. Digitalisation is key to achieving these goals, enabling businesses to innovate, streamline operations, and enhance customer experiences. Recognising this need, the grant scheme offers non-repayable grants to support small and medium-sized enterprises in adopting digital capabilities and processes.
This scheme aligns with Policy Objective 1 of the SFC2021 Programme 2021-2027, which seeks to create a smarter, more competitive Europe by promoting innovative economic transformation and regional ICT connectivity. It specifically addresses the objective of helping citizens, companies, research organisations, and public authorities reap the benefits of digitalisation, fostering entrepreneurship, and supporting the creation of new firms.
The “Digitalise Your SME” scheme will remain operational until 31 December 2026, subject to fund availability. The initial budget allocated for this programme is €5,000,000, including a contribution from the Malta Digital Innovation Authority. Grants are available from a minimum of €10,000 to a maximum of €128,400 per eligible project, with an additional 7% flat rate to cover indirect costs related to the investment.
The grant aims to help SMEs invest in digitalisation across all aspects of their operations, from product and process design to procurement, supply chain management, distribution, and after-sales services. By digitalising these processes, enterprises can improve resilience, efficiency, productivity, and customer satisfaction, while opening up new economic opportunities and business models. Digital technologies also support intelligent work, advanced production methods, effective customer acquisition, and better networking within the industry.
Eligible applicants include micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises engaged in economic activity, regardless of legal form. Start-ups that meet the criteria may also apply. Enterprises without legal personality under applicable law must be registered under the Second Schedule of the Civil Code (CAP 16 of the Laws of Malta).
This grant scheme provides a valuable opportunity for SMEs to adopt cutting-edge digital solutions, enhance competitiveness, and secure sustainable growth in an increasingly digital global marketplace.
