Deadline: August 28, 2025
This opportunity focuses on significance of the chosen theme or question for the field, artistic quality of the project, effectiveness in design, methodology and the expertise involved, support for the project, and the project’s contribution to a more diverse and equal design sector.
The application process consists of two phases. In phase I, applicants submit a concise application form including project summary, CVs of main participants, and a certified extract from the Chamber of Commerce. Applications are processed in order of receipt until the maximum for the grant period is reached. In phase II, successful phase I applicants have four weeks to submit a detailed project plan, budget, timetable, and communication plan. Only complete and eligible applications proceed to the advisory committee for assessment.
The grant is open to designers, observers, design agencies, and cultural institutions positioning themselves within the design field, offering funding from €10,000 up to €50,000. Grant amounts contribute to total project costs, requiring at least 20% co-financing.
Applicants are encouraged to review the Design Grant Scheme manual, application form samples, and budget and funding plan templates to prepare their submissions thoroughly.
Assessment by the advisory committee is based on the project’s thematic significance, artistic quality, design effectiveness, project support, and diversity contributions in the design sector. Applications meeting all criteria may be prioritized if eligible applications exceed available funds.
Upon successful grant award, recipients must submit accountability documents before project completion and provide invitations to presentations and copies of physical publications as applicable.
