Deadline Date: April 30, 2026
The National Research, Development and Innovation Fund (NRDI Fund) is launching a Call for Proposals (CFP) to support Hungarian participation in the European Union’s Horizon Europe framework programme and related joint programmes.
The focus areas of this Call include promoting innovation in the Hungarian economy, strengthening research and development applicable in economic and social spheres, facilitating the utilisation of domestic and international research results, supporting the development of innovation infrastructure and related service activities, encouraging Hungarian applicants to participate in Horizon Europe and related joint programmes in the highest possible number and share of funding, promoting the role of applicants as consortium leaders, enhancing international visibility, strengthening networking and fundraising capacities, supporting the proposal preparation process, reinforcing the role of Hungarian applicants in emerging consortia, and promoting the inclusion of new applicants, particularly SMEs.
The Call provides grants to cover costs incurred during the formation of international consortia, drafting consortium agreements, and preparing Horizon Europe proposals. Applicants may receive funding ranging from HUF 1 million to HUF 2 million per project, with a total budget of HUF 250 million. Each project can have a duration of up to 24 months. Applications must be submitted individually, and the Call exclusively supports preparatory activities for participation in Horizon Europe proposals implemented in consortia. Legal entities with a registered seat in Hungary, or with a registered seat in the European Economic Area and a branch office in Hungary, are eligible to apply.
Eligible activities include consortium building both as a member not leading any work packages and as a coordinator or work package leader. Activities may involve participating in international partner search or professional events, attending preparatory project meetings abroad or organising such meetings in Hungary, legal and patent advisory services, drafting proposals and consortium agreements, proposal writing, language editing, participation in international proposal writing training, and involvement in professional organisations including membership fees and travel costs. Projects must plan at least one milestone during the implementation, with the project completion occurring within 24 months from the start date, which may be no more than 24 months prior to the submission date of the application.
