Deadline Date: November 30, 2025
The Tokyo Metropolitan Small and Medium Enterprise Support Center is now accepting grant applications to help small and medium-sized businesses in Tokyo strengthen and expand their operations following a business succession.
The Growth Support Project Triggered by Business Succession supports successors who have recently taken over management from a previous business owner. The goal of this initiative is to encourage the development of new business activities and ensure smooth business continuity while enhancing competitiveness and long-term growth.
This program offers financial support and advisory assistance to help successors create and implement new business development plans. Eligible applicants are small and medium-sized enterprises, including sole proprietors, operating within Tokyo who have formally taken over the business management role. The initiative recognizes that succession is not only a transfer of ownership, but also a critical moment to introduce innovation and new strategies for business expansion.
The maximum grant available under this program is 8 million yen, with a support period of up to one year from the date of the grant decision. Funding can be used for a wide range of business development needs. These may include the purchase of raw materials, tools and machinery, system implementation, technology and equipment upgrades, outsourcing and subcontracting, and industrial property rights applications. Other eligible expenses include sales promotion activities, real estate rental fees necessary for business expansion, and expert consultation or guidance fees to support planning and implementation.
By offering both financial assistance and advisory support, the program aims to ensure that successors can confidently pursue new business initiatives that align with market needs and long-term sustainability. This encourages continued growth, revitalization of business operations, and broader economic development within Tokyo’s small and medium-sized enterprise sector.
