CFPs: Feature Film and Long Animated Film Production Program

Deadline Date: January 13, 2026

The Feature Film and Long-Length Animated Film Production program, supported by the Dutch Film Fund, focuses on supporting high-quality, majority Dutch feature films and long-length animated films to contribute to a varied and distinctive film offering for a diverse audience.

The focus of the opportunity includes supporting original and distinctive films with courage and originality that spark the imagination and tell relevant stories for the Dutch audience, striving for the most diverse offering possible with room for all narrative perspectives, segments, and genres, created by a balanced mix of experienced and emerging filmmakers, supporting a limited number of films within the available budget, aiming each year to support 20 selectively supported feature films in the production phase with room for an average of five children’s and family films and one to two full-length animated films, prioritising content and cinematographic quality and the content and artistic quality of the creative team’s previous work, striving for a balanced public-private funding mix where the Film Fund’s contribution is proportionate to investments of other parties and intended audience reach, ensuring the higher the requested fund contribution the more important funding from other parties and ambitions to reach a broad audience become, and addressing both novice and experienced filmmakers.

The program selects film projects carefully to ensure that the limited number of supported productions receive sufficient resources to realise their ambitions. Consideration is given to the artistic and cinematographic quality of the proposed film as well as the track record and creative strength of the team involved. The scheme encourages balanced public-private financing structures, ensuring that the Film Fund’s contribution adds value, does not displace market investments, and supports fair remuneration and thorough preparation within the production process.

Eligible applicants may request production contributions of up to €950,000 for a film with a production budget of up to €2 million, or up to €1,200,000 for a film with a production budget of €2 million or more. These basic contributions include earmarked amounts of €15,000 for sales deliveries, audio description and subtitling, and €50,000 as a contribution to the producer’s marketing and promotion costs during the realization phase. The Fund also makes an additional contribution to the sustainability of production, providing a contribution towards the costs of the eco-manager up to an amount of €3,000.

Applications may be submitted by an independent production company that is a legal entity established for at least two years in the Kingdom of the Netherlands, a member state of the EU, the EEA or Switzerland, and that produces and exploits films and other audiovisual productions on an ongoing basis. The production company must be represented by a producer who, as majority producer, has been primarily responsible for the production of at least one feature film or animated feature film released in the Netherlands, and the producer representing the production company must not be the same person as the film’s director or screenwriter.
