Deadline: November 03, 2025
The City of Parramatta Council is offering grants of up to $2,000 to assist local social enterprises and not-for-profit organizations with business planning needs.
The focus areas of the grant include assisting existing local social enterprises to engage external professional services that support ongoing operations and sustainability such as marketing, web design, and bookkeeping, and providing funding for not-for-profit organizations at the concept development stage of a social enterprise project for research, development, and business plan writing. Project funds can be used to hire business planning consultants or to cover research activities and staff time for writing a business plan.
Social enterprises supported by this grant must have social, environmental, or cultural mission objectives core to their purpose. They operate with limited profit distribution, reinvesting the majority of profits into the enterprise or associated social entities, and demonstrate generation of social returns in addition to financial returns. They may be supported through a mix of grant income, subsidized income, and trading income but must engage in trading activities. Decision-making within these enterprises favors democratic structures to ensure accountability to stakeholders beyond shareholders.
To be eligible, applicants must be incorporated bodies or fit an eligible social enterprise structure. Grant applications require at least one quote for professional services planned or a clear breakdown of internal staff involvement with pay rates and anticipated work hours if grant funds are used for internal research and planning.
Applications are submitted online via SmartyGrants, with resources and support available through the City’s Social Investment Officer and Community Grants team.
