Deadline Date: February 02, 2026
The Advanced Research + Invention Agency (ARIA) provides seed funding to individuals or teams pursuing research aligned with the opportunity space of Engineering Ecosystem Resilience as a means to uncover new pathways that may otherwise be overlooked.
The focus areas of this opportunity are ideas that sit within the Engineering Ecosystem Resilience opportunity space, proposals that align with or challenge the assumptions of the Summary, Beliefs or Observations in the opportunity space, and ideas that range from early-stage curiosity-driven research through to translational and close-to-commercial science and technology.
This seed funding aims to support researchers with smaller budgets and less structure than traditional programmes, allowing space for bold ideas that could otherwise fall through the cracks. The initiative supports curiosity-driven exploration as well as research that is close to technological or commercial application, ensuring that promising pathways receive the opportunity to be tested and developed.
Funding begins at a minimum of £10,000 and extends up to a maximum of £500,000, and applicants are encouraged to ask for the level of funding required to take their idea somewhere exciting without limitations placed on ambition. This flexibility makes it possible for researchers to expand work that may otherwise be halted due to inadequate financial support.
