Vinnova is inviting collaborative research and innovation proposals for advanced digital infrastructure and communications projects in Sweden that aim to address industrial needs with the goal of strengthening Sweden’s digital capabilities and competitiveness.
They want to finance research and innovation projects that contribute to the industrial application of advanced digitalisation. The project must be carried out in collaboration between at least two actors. Your proposal should address one of the call’s five areas of focus: Use of 5G in public and private 5G networks, Exploratory research and innovation around 6G, Applications, Resilient digital infrastructure, Satellite communication. The projects will address digitalization challenges in industry and business. Each project can apply for between 2 and 15 million SEK in funding, and Vinnova’s funding can amount to a maximum of 50 percent of the project’s eligible costs. Project consortia must include at least one Swedish company, and project durations can be between 12 and 36 months. This call aims to promote sustainable system transformation in line with UN global sustainability goals, focusing on gender equality and climate change. All possible scientific publications from funded projects should be open access. Projects must contribute to next-generation advanced, secure digital solutions and raise Swedish competence in digitalisation.
This call for proposals is part of the Advanced Digitalisation Program, which strengthens Sweden’s attractiveness for innovation investments and aims to create enabling technologies and core competence areas that meet the needs of industry. The program also focuses on activities such as investigating technical conditions, developing prototypes or demonstration versions, researching production methods, market analysis, salary and personnel costs, consulting, materials, supplies, travel, equipment, and indirect costs related to the project.
Projects must be driven by industry needs and must involve at least two legal entities, of which one must be a Swedish company. Eligible participants can be from industry, business, academia, research institutes, public activities, or authorities. Each organization’s eligibility for funding is based on its type and the nature of project activities, with higher funding intensity possible for actual cooperation and non-economic activities. Proposals must meet formal eligibility requirements, and applications are assessed for their potential impact, competence, and feasibility.
