Deadline: October 01, 2025
The Swedish Energy Agency invites applications for research projects aimed at developing and integrating fossil-free and electrified vehicles to promote sustainable and energy-efficient transportation.
The focus areas include refueling and charging infrastructure for both electricity and hydrogen, along with its connection to the electricity grid, resilience and self-sufficiency aspects, collaboration, interdisciplinary research issues, the breadth of actor constellation, and industries outside the automotive sector.
This funding opportunity is part of the Automotive Strategic Research and Innovation (FFI) framework, targeting projects that contribute to the programme’s impact objectives and mission. Applicants are encouraged to submit research projects across the full breadth of the programme, with priority given to projects addressing areas of particular demand within the call.
All actors capable of contributing to the objectives are eligible to apply, including businesses, public sector organizations, universities and colleges with social sciences, humanities, engineering, and natural sciences faculties, as well as other institutions. Each project must include co-financing from the business community.
The call offers approximately 75 million SEK in funding, with applications accepted continuously but assessed at specific intervals to streamline the process. Projects may start no earlier than November 28, 2025, and must conclude by December 31, 2029. Decisions on funding will be announced in November 2025.
