Deadline: June 30, 2026
The Berrigan Shire Council Small Business Grant provides financial assistance to help small businesses achieve specific goals or projects.
The grant focuses on Business Startup: Assistance to implement part of a business plan for a new business, such as purchasing equipment or developing a product. The purchase of a personal computer, business insurance or rent are excluded. Expansion: Helping a small business to grow by funding marketing efforts. Innovation and Technology: Supporting businesses that aim to develop new products, improve existing services, or adopt innovative technologies. Education: Helping business to further the knowledge base of their employees. Job Creation: Encouraging business to hire more employees.
The program is open to small businesses based within the Berrigan Shire Council boundaries. Eligible applicants must employ less than 10 full-time equivalent staff and have an annual revenue below $5 million. Applications for the 2025–2026 program open on 29 August 2025 and will be accepted on a bi-monthly basis until all funds are exhausted or until 30 June 2026. The Council will review the program in December 2025 to determine if additional funds can be allocated.
A total of $20,000 has been allocated to this pilot project, with a maximum of $4,000 available per application. Smaller funding requests will be prioritised. Only one application per business per financial year is permitted. Successful applicants must complete an online acquittal form and submit receipts for funded activities.
Applications are assessed by a committee of three people based on the merits of the proposal, alignment with the grant’s purpose, and the supporting budget and quotes. Preference is given to businesses that provide matching contributions on a dollar-for-dollar basis or higher. Quotes are required for proposed activities, and business plans are essential for startup applicants.
Applications can be submitted online through the BSC website or via a printed form sent by email or post.
