Deadline Date: December 31, 2025
The Foresight Institute offers a unique grant opportunity under its “AI for Science & Safety” initiative, inviting innovators, researchers, and organizations to propose projects that use artificial intelligence to advance science and safety.
This opportunity supports a wide array of ambitions — from building secure AI systems to driving breakthroughs in privacy, decentralized cooperation, neurotechnology, longevity biotechnology, and molecular nanotechnology — all aimed at ensuring that AI’s growth benefits humanity while minimizing risks.
Those awarded grants receive more than just funding. They are invited to join one of two new “nodes” (in San Francisco or Berlin) which will provide access to office space, community environments, workshops and essential computing infrastructure. This combination of resources—funding, support, environment and compute—intends to accelerate research and collaboration among mission-aligned teams working on frontier AI‑driven science and safety.
Funding levels are flexible depending on scope and domain. Typical grants for this program range from a modest $10,000 to larger awards as high as $100,000, especially for projects addressing high‑priority safety and AI‑first science themes. Projects involving multiple years or more ambitious objectives may receive funding in tranches, tied to milestones and deliverables.
The program encourages applicants to aim for projects in which AI is the primary engine for scientific or safety advances. Preference is given to those who intend to actively use the physical nodes and engage with the broader community.
For individuals or teams driven by a mission to ensure the safe, equitable, and open development of AI-powered science, this program represents a rare chance to gain both resources and community. It supports bold, high‑reward initiatives that have the potential to shape the future of AI and benefit society at large.
