The NSW Government has launched the Agriculture Industries Innovation and Growth Program, funded by the Regional Development Trust, to support the agriculture sector through the uptake of new innovative technology and equipment that increase export opportunities, improve supply chain productivity, and achieve lower emissions.
The focus areas of the program are increased access to new and expanding markets, reduced impacts for the agricultural sector associated with geopolitical and environmental change, economic participation of regional Aboriginal businesses, accelerate the development and uptake of innovative technology and equipment in regional NSW to increase access to export opportunities, improve productivity and resilience in supply chains and achieve lower emissions, supporting key growth sectors such as the development of future fuels and plant-based proteins, enabling the purchase of equipment and new agtech that will help to lower emissions in the agricultural sector, improving the agricultural sectors supply chain efficiencies and ability to access new and emerging export markets, supporting uptake of innovative technologies that improve supply chain efficiency and increase sustainability, supporting development of innovative solutions that improve competitiveness and leverage the strengths of the NSW agricultural sector.
This program represents a $25 million investment and seeks to strengthen the long-term sustainability of the NSW agriculture sector while enabling regional industries to grow and adapt to structural and environmental changes. Through advancing adoption of cutting-edge agtech and supporting high-growth sectors, the initiative aims to contribute to improved productivity and market positioning across regional NSW.
Funding between $500,000 and $4,000,000 is available for eligible applicants, enabling substantial projects that enhance supply chain resilience and decarbonisation across the farming and agribusiness landscape. The program supports the purchase and deployment of new technology and equipment that directly contribute to lower emissions, improved efficiency, and access to emerging export markets.
Eligible applicants include registered entities such as Australian-incorporated companies, incorporated associations or co-operatives, legally binding incorporated partnerships, incorporated trustees of Australian-based trusts, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Corporations. Applicants must hold an ABN, be registered for GST, demonstrate financial viability, commit to required insurance, and meet all integrity and compliance requirements.
