Deadline Date: February 28, 2026
The Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund is now accepting applications to support effective planning and implementation of programs in the Tropical Andes Biodiversity Hotspot.
Focus areas, coordinating CEPF investment in the hotspot, supporting the integration of biodiversity into public policies and private sector business practices, communicating CEPF investment throughout the hotspot, building the capacity of civil society, supporting the CEPF Secretariat process for solicitation and review of large grant proposals, managing a program of small grants, monitoring and evaluating the impact of large and small grants, and supporting the CEPF Secretariat in monitoring the large-grants portfolio and ensuring compliance with funding terms.
The team supports civil society in designing projects aligned with the objectives outlined in the ecosystem profile, fostering a coherent portfolio of mutually supportive grants. It publicizes the ecosystem profile and provides information about the standardized large-grant application process, while also managing the solicitation and announcement of small grants of up to $50,000 in accordance with the CEPF Operational Manual.
The terms of reference of the Tropical Andes RIT consist of eight components, which are: coordinating CEPF investment in the hotspot, supporting the integration of biodiversity into public policies and private sector business practices, communicating CEPF investment throughout the hotspot, building the capacity of civil society, supporting the CEPF Secretariat process for solicitation and review of large grant proposals, managing a program of small grants, monitoring and evaluating the impact of large and small grants, and supporting the CEPF Secretariat in monitoring the large-grants portfolio and ensuring compliance with funding terms.
The Regional Implementation Team acts as the field-based technical representative for CEPF, engaging with civil society groups, grantees, international donors, host country governments and agencies, and other potential partners within the hotspot. It assists civil society in engaging with government and the private sector and in sharing results, recommendations, and best practices. A communications strategy for CEPF investment is developed with input from the CEPF Communications Team to ensure information is effectively disseminated throughout the hotspot.
Monitoring and evaluation are central to the RIT’s work, as it collects and reports data on portfolio-level indicators for both large and small grants annually, reflecting progress against the logical framework in the ecosystem profile. Additionally, the team aids the CEPF Secretariat in overseeing the large-grants portfolio and ensures that all grantees comply with CEPF funding terms.
