The National Research, Development and Innovation Fund aims to provide national support for Hungarian organisations that successfully participate in joint international calls for proposals under European Partnerships co-funded by the EU Horizon Europe programme, where the NRDI Office is involved.
The call focuses on the following themes: Biodiversa+; Water4All; CETP (Clean Energy Transition Partnership); DUT (Driving Urban Transitions); ERA for Health; EP PERMED; AGRIDATA; OH AMR; BRAIN HEALTH; AGROECOLOGY.
This funding opportunity is designed to strengthen strategic cooperation among Hungarian organisations involved in European Partnership projects and to help them gain valuable experience in international R&D collaboration, meeting Horizon Europe requirements, and applying impact-oriented research methods. The call also supports participation in networking and capacity-building events organised by the Partnerships and aims to lay the groundwork for future scientific and economic cooperation through partnerships developed during these projects.
The call invites project proposals under the sub-programmes of Biodiversa+ for biodiversity and ecosystem conservation research and innovation, Water4All for water safety research and innovation, CETP for clean energy transition, DUT for urban transition projects, ERA for Health for pre-clinical and clinical biomedical research and health promotion, EP PERMED for translational personalised medicine research, AGRIDATA for accelerating digital transformation in agriculture, OH AMR for monitoring antimicrobial resistance using a One Health approach, BRAIN HEALTH for collaborative brain research and public health initiatives, and AGROECOLOGY for sustainable agricultural transformation through social innovation.
The total budget available for this call is HUF 1,809,180,000, and projects may last up to a maximum of 36 months. Eligible project objectives include basic research, applied (industrial) research, and experimental development as activities eligible for independent funding. Activities not eligible for independent funding include basic research, project support activities, travel-related activities, and the purchase of equipment and intangible assets.
Eligible applicants must be Hungarian members of consortia recommended for funding under the relevant European Partnership evaluation scheme, or Hungarian participants joining such consortia after recommendation. The call is open to legal entities with registered seats in Hungary, or entities registered in the European Economic Area with a branch office in Hungary, including businesses and non-profit companies with double-entry accounting, accredited higher education institutions, and budgetary organs and entities classified as research and knowledge-dissemination organisations.
