Deadline: September 22, 2025
The Department of Industry under Bhutan’s Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Employment is inviting proposals to provide support to Cottage and Small Industries (CSIs) engaged in production and manufacturing activities requiring genuine assistance to upscale operations and improve product quality.
The support is provided in the form of core equipment and machinery with the government covering 70% of the total cost, up to a maximum of Nu 500,000, while the remaining 30% or more cost must be borne by the applicant. Priority is given to CSIs located in remote areas with potential to upscale and benefit the local community according to the Industrial Development Grant Scheme 2025.
Eligible Cottage and Small Industries engaged in production and manufacturing are encouraged to submit nominations for support under this scheme. The Department of Industry aims to help these industries enhance their manufacturing capabilities by acquiring essential machinery and equipment, thereby improving product quality and operational efficiency.
Applicants whose nominations are approved will be responsible for procuring the approved equipment and machinery on their own. Advance payments must be made using their own cost-sharing contribution, while the government’s 70% share will be paid directly to suppliers upon delivery of the items.
The Regional Offices of Industry, Commerce, and Employment (ROICE) along with Dzongkhags and the Department will closely monitor the utilization of the support to ensure that it is properly used to maximize developmental impact.
The nominated CSIs will benefit not only by upgrading production but also in supporting local economic growth, especially in remote areas which have been emphasized for this grant program. CSIs in Dzongkhags such as Haa, Gasa, Trashigang, Mongar, and others under the respective regional jurisdictions have been identified as priority beneficiaries.
Applicants should submit their nomination as per the format by the deadline of 22nd September 2025 to be considered under the Industrial Development Grant Scheme 2025.
This initiative represents a critical effort by the Royal Government of Bhutan to foster sustainable industrial development, enhance competitiveness, and support grassroots enterprises contributing to inclusive growth.
