Deadline: September 30, 2025
The European Commission has launched the call PPPA-MOVE-2025-P032404 under the Directorate-General for Mobility and Transport to promote handicraft products and support craftsmen through the EU’s tourism ecosystem.
The focus of the call is to support craftsmen established within the European Union in the process of creating traditional handicraft products, to support crafts with a view to attracting tourists to areas where handicraft and artisanal products are manufactured, to provide incentives to craftsmen to continue traditions, to incentivise young craftsmen to create artisanal products, to create new opportunities for collaboration between craftsmen across EU regions including via the EU Tourism Platform, and to help promote and increase the sale of artisanal and handicraft products such as those with a geographical indication, including through digital means.
The initiative will provide both direct and indirect support to craftsmen and tourism SMEs, encouraging collaboration, innovation, and resilience in the EU tourism sector. It will fund activities under three main work packages: direct support for craftsmen, establishing a collaboration and exchange mechanism through the EU Tourism Platform, and incentivising tourism in regions where handicraft products are manufactured. These activities include financial and technical support, mentoring, capacity building, workshops, collaborative projects, and digital promotion strategies.
Proposals must be submitted by a consortium of at least six independent entities from at least three different eligible countries, including business support organisations, destination management organisations, and training or research institutions. Craftsmen and tourism SMEs are expected to benefit through funding ranging from EUR 5,000 to EUR 25,000 per project for individual craftsmen and from EUR 15,000 to EUR 35,000 per collaborative project.
The total estimated budget for the call is EUR 970,000, with applications opening on 2 September 2025 and closing on 30 September 2025. Successful projects are expected to deliver results such as supporting craftsmen to promote products, attracting tourists to regions, improving collaboration between craftsmen, boosting SMEs’ competitiveness, contributing to green and digital transition, and enhancing the tourism value chain.
