Deadline Date: January 31, 2026
The National Medicinal Plants Board under the Ministry of Ayush, Government of India, has invited proposals for setting up Medicinal Plants Business Centres to strengthen the post-harvest herbal economy and improve market linkages across the country.
The focus areas and objectives of this call include establishing processing units, drying and storage facilities, quality testing infrastructure, and packaging and transport systems, with the aim of increasing farmers’ income, strengthening the medicinal plants value chain and traceability, promoting value addition and quality processing, and supporting advanced storage and marketing mechanisms. This initiative seeks to enhance the overall efficiency and sustainability of the medicinal plants sector by addressing critical gaps in post-harvest handling and market connectivity. By supporting the creation of dedicated business centres, the programme aims to improve processing capacity, ensure quality standards, and enable better access to markets for medicinal plant produce.
Financial assistance of up to ₹5 crore per Medicinal Plants Business Centre will be provided to support the establishment and operationalisation of these facilities. The funding is intended to help develop integrated infrastructure that can contribute to a stronger and more organised herbal economy.
Eligible applicants for this call include government and semi-government bodies, State Medicinal Plant Boards, farmer producer organisations and companies, public sector undertakings, non-governmental organisations, cooperatives, and registered clusters or entities involved in the medicinal plants sector.
