Deadline: December 03, 2025
The European Slate Development support aims to enhance the competitiveness of European independent audiovisual production companies by increasing their economic weight in the market.
The support focuses on fostering competitiveness of European independent production companies, increasing their capacity to develop projects with potential for circulation throughout Europe and beyond, and facilitating European and international coproduction. It also provides opportunities for emerging talent to direct short films supported by experienced companies. Emphasis is placed on supporting sustainable and environmentally respectful industry practices as well as ensuring gender balance, inclusion, diversity, and representativeness.
This funding call supports independent European production companies to develop a slate of three to five audiovisual works, including fiction, animation, and creative documentaries, for commercial exploitation on cinema, television, or digital platforms. The inclusion of a short film by emerging talent is optional. The aim is to enable production companies to reduce development risks and increase their ability to attract and retain creative talent. Companies are encouraged to include strategies for marketing and distribution from the outset to maximize audience reach across European and international markets.
The program fosters greater cooperation and co-development between companies from different European countries within the MEDIA strand. It strengthens the competitiveness of the European audiovisual sector by consolidating companies’ development phase investment capacity and encouraging innovation to explore new markets and fields. Applications presenting strategies for sustainability, environmental respect, gender balance, and diversity are given special consideration.
Applicants have until December 3, 2025, at 17:00 Brussels time to submit proposals, with a total budget of €21,000,000 allocated to assume multiple grants. The evaluation will take place from December 2025 to April 2026, with grant agreements expected to be signed by August 2026. The supported works are intended for wide European and international dissemination, enhancing the market value and cross-border potential of the audiovisual productions.
