Deadline Date: February 23, 2026
The City of Greater Geelong is offering Community Strengthening First Nations Grants to support projects and initiatives that promote health, social equity, and cultural understanding for Wadawurrung Traditional Owners and First Nations people living in the region.
The grants aim to fund activities that deliver on the National Agreement on Closing the Gap socio-economic targets, align with the five pillars of the City’s Community Health and Wellbeing Strategy 2025–29, increase respect and celebration of First Nations perspectives and culture, deepen understanding of the impacts of colonisation through Truth Telling, and strengthen First Nations decision-making and community participation.
Applicants can request funding in two categories: up to $5,000 for smaller-scale projects with shorter timeframes and limited engagement, or between $5,001 and $25,000 for larger projects that involve comprehensive budgets, detailed community consultation, and multiple partners. Each applicant can apply for only one category per funding round, but First Nations individuals, groups, or organisations may participate as partners in multiple applications.
Eligible applicants include incorporated not-for-profit organisations, groups with an auspice, registered charities, early years services such as playgroups or childcare centres, businesses, and individuals operating as sole traders with an active ABN. Projects must be delivered within the greater Geelong municipality, although Wadawurrung Traditional Owners living outside Geelong may also apply if the project takes place in the region.
