The Arts Council Malta’s International Participation Scheme supports Maltese and Malta-based artists and cultural operators in showcasing their work abroad, fostering international collaboration, and developing skills through global exposure.
The scheme focuses on assisting participation in festivals, exhibitions, shows, networking events, films, conferences, artist residencies, and international fairs. Its objectives include enabling artists to present their works to international audiences, receive feedback, build networks, explore and develop their skills, and enter into collaborative opportunities across borders. Applicants are expected to align with the Right to Culture Resource Pack to ensure inclusivity and cultural rights in their work and to follow the Charter for the Status of Artists to uphold fair working conditions, artistic freedom, accessibility, recognition of skills, socio-economic equity, ethical standards, intellectual property rights, and compliance with international labor law.
Eligible applicants must be Maltese citizens or hold a Maltese residence permit, citizenship certificate, or passport. They may include individual artists or creative professionals, registered entities such as companies, partnerships, foundations, cooperatives, voluntary organizations, as well as groups, collectives, and consortia. The scheme aims to strengthen Malta’s cultural presence internationally while supporting the sustainable and responsible development of the country’s creative and cultural sectors.
