Deadline Date: January 31, 2026
The Shuswap Watershed Council (SWC) is offering a targeted grant program to support projects and new management practices that enhance nutrient retention in the Shuswap watershed.
The primary goal of the program is to reduce the flow of phosphorus into Shuswap and Mara Lakes by promoting practices that improve soil and land nutrient management.
For 2026, up to $15,000 in funding is available, with individual grant requests capped at $5,000 for this intake. The number and size of grants awarded will depend on the quality and merit of the applications received, ensuring that the most impactful projects receive support.
Eligible applicants include a wide range of stakeholders such as farms, hobby and small-lot farms, agri-businesses, golf courses, wineries and cideries, tree farms and nurseries, landowners, First Nations governments, Indigenous organizations, and non-profit organizations. These groups are encouraged to submit proposals that demonstrate tangible benefits for nutrient retention and watershed health.
Certain applicants are not eligible for funding, including local governments, provincial and federal government agencies, consultants, and non-farm corporations. By focusing on eligible landowners and organizations, the program ensures that the grants directly support on-the-ground practices that can make a measurable difference in water quality and ecosystem sustainability in the Shuswap watershed.
